I guess they are used to foreign travellers who stayed in bad places all over Indonesia and who dont complain about anything. They dont put any effort anymoore. Yes, the owner is helpful, they kept our backpack there for a week while we toured the beaches, thank you for that. But having noisy locals sitting up all night just outside the rooms where the tired tourists are trying to sleep is not okey. Smoking cigarettes and allowing all the smoke to go inside the rooms, allowing them to talk loud all night so people cannot sleep - ITS NOT OKEY AT ALL. The rooms are dark and without any windows at all, so they smell old and mold. No mosquito nets and tons of mosquitos. Dirty, bad smelling bathrooms. Not a good deal at all. The co-owner is a wonderful lady that went absolutely above and beyond to get me a driver to Alas Purwo national park. She spent all morning calling and texting just for me. She answered all my questions. I will never forget her help The other staff is all lovely too, and I think it's amazing that this place is women-led! I think you can feel it in the vibe of the hostel. The other guests at the time were all nice and open people, many solo travellers and I had some unexpected good conversations. I slept in the new dorm room, and I loved it. No bunk beds but each their own matress on the floor, very private with curtains around, soft matress and I think it slept only four. Location is nice because there are a lot of eating/shopping options around! Close to the souvenir shop, and in the middle of a big shopping/eating area. The staff was very helpful and can speak English enough not bad. It is next to a curry restaurant that serves great curries. The rooms are great. We had a dormitory room and it was beautiful and very clean. There is a great common area with food and drinks. If you look for a fun hostel, this is a very good option. The room on the second floor had a view of the fruit park and it is not directly on a big noisy street. The hostel has a cheap tour shared tour to Ijen Crater and many kinds of private tour to Banyuwangi's tourist destination, with the good price and excellent service.
